In 1949, a group of Certified Grocers of California employees, disenchanted with its current financial institution, formed a financial cooperative dedicated to serving the needs of the grocery industry employees. The cooperative was owned and operated by the same people it served. Forty-nine years, 12,000 active members, and $42 million in assets later, Certified Federal Credit Union has continually renewed its commitment to the community and its members, primarily the California grocery industry employees.
