About Columbus Credit Union
Columbus Credit Union is a full-service financial institution where our members are our owners. When you open a share account with a $20 deposit, you are purchasing a share in the Credit Union, and become a voting member eligible to use its services. Membership at this Credit Union is available regardless of residence or occupation. The prime difference between a bank and a credit union is "one member, one vote," whether you have one million or one dollar saved, you have one vote. Members are encouraged to attend our annual meeting, usually held in March.
The share account works like stock, but there is no risk involved - you get as much back as you put in. If a member puts over $25 in a 'share' account, dividends - like interest - on that money can be collected. That's why we encourage people to make it $25 instead of $20.
