If you meet any of the following criteria, you qualify to join KPOCU:

• East Tennessee - As of April 2004, those individuals who live, work, worship, or go to school in
  Knox, Blount, or Sevier Counties are eligible for membership with KPOCU.
• Family Member - In addition, any family member of a KPOCU member is also eligible to join - local
  or not! Put your family on the road to a better financial future, too.
• Community Partner - If you or your spouse's employer, organization, or association is a Community Partner of KPOCU, you are eligible to join KPOCU. 
• Household Member - If you live within a household and maintain a single economic unit with a KPOCU member, you are eligible to join the credit union.

In 1924, a group of postal employees met in the basement of the downtown Knoxville Post Office. This visionary group recognized the importance of the credit union movement and became the first members/owners of the Knoxville Post Office Credit Union. As charter members, they organized the credit union using the basic concept of a cooperative, non-profit financial institution. Member-owned and guided by a member-elected, volunteer Board of Directors, KPOCU's purpose was to provide its members with quality financial services.

The credit union promoted the importance of savings and provided loans at affordable rates of interest. Today, as Tennessee's oldest existing credit union, KPOCU is proud of its strong, stable heritage and tradition of quality service.
