Membership with the Mass Bay Credit Union is open to the employees and retirees of the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority, the community of South Boston and MBTA-affiliated unions. Your immediate family becomes eligible for membership once you join. Through our extended-family membership program, once your immediate family become Members, their families are eligible...and so on. It's a great way to share the benefits of Credit Union membership with your entire family.
To become a Member, you need to open a Share (Savings) Account with a minimum of $5.
About Mass Bay Credit Union
The Mass Bay Credit Union is regarded as the premier industrial Credit Union within the Massachusetts financial community. Originally chartered as the Boston Elevated Employees Credit Union in 1936 with twenty members, the Credit Union today has approximately 14,000 Members and manages over $170 million in assets.
In 1965, the Credit Union changed its name to MBTA Employees Credit Union, as it served the employees of the Mass Bay Transit Authority. In 2009, the Credit Union became Mass Bay Credit Union, to support the financial needs of the community of South Boston, Seaport District and other unions in Massachusetts.

Our corporate structure is unique in that Members elect a Board of Directors who represent the collective voice of the Credit Union, and make strategic decisions about the institution. The Board of Directors oversees the codes and by-laws by which we operate.
