About Members Cooperative Credit Union
In the spring of 1936, eight people from the Cloquet area started Cloquet Co-op Credit Union with deposits of $5 each. When our charter was approved in July 1936, Cloquet Co-op Credit Union was formed with $40 in capital. Once the credit union was established, new members paid an entrance fee of 25¢.
Today, more than 33,000 members – more than half from outside the Cloquet area – have come together to pool over $260 million in assets at what is now known as Members Cooperative Credit Union. The confidence and support of our members has made MCCU the largest credit union based north of the Twin Cities and the 14th largest in the state.
Our mission is to be the primary, positive financial influence in the lives of our members/owners. We live by this promise. MCCU's 33,000 members enjoy great rates; reduced fees; caring, personal service and access to more locations than any other Northland credit union.
