Community Association for Engaging Youth (CAFE-Y) CAFE-Y is an association of youth and adults working together to promote youth-driven community involvement as a vital force for social change. It is a support network for youth-adult teams that perform community service together all across California. Membership is open to anyone with a desire to make a difference and give back. Because YLI has a Select Employer Group (SEG) relationship with Patelco, any member of their group can join Patelco.

Like most credit unions, Patelco was originally started to serve the financial interests of the employees of a specific organization, in our case the Pacific Telephone & Telegraph Company. The year was 1936, and Patelco’s initial assets totaled a mere $500.

Today, we are among the largest credit unions in the country, with over $4 billion in assets and over 300,000 members. We have expanded our field of membership to serve the employees of over 1,000 large and small businesses and communities throughout California and the United States.
