Sun East Federal Credit Union Membership Eligibility
Membership in Sun East Federal Credit Union is available to employees and members of nearly 4,000 affiliated businesses, associations, groups, and churches in Pennsylvania, Delaware, and New Jersey.
In addition, immediate family members (parents, siblings, children, etc.) of an eligible member can also join Sun East.
About Sun East Federal Credit Union
In 1949, Sun Oil Company employees decided to band together in an effort to assist each other with their financial needs. Volunteers banded together with employees at the Refinery and collected money in oil cans to start the Credit Union. As a result of these "people helping people" efforts, the Sun Oil Marcus Hook Federal Credit Union was formed.
After the Credit Union's charter was approved in May 1949, members savings were lent back out for "small" loans. As time passed and member savings grew, so did the size of new loans. From these humble beginnings grew a Credit Union!
In August of 1986, Sun East Federal Credit Union opened its doors for business! New services were added, such as MasterCard®, direct deposit of payroll checks, fixed-rate mortgage loans and student loans. By the end of 1986, the Credit Union had grown to $39,208,328 in assets and had 7,250 members.
The number of members and assets has certainly increased over the years. Today, Sun East has over $328 million in assets and serves the financial needs of more than 41,000 members and over 650 sponsor groups. Members not only can take advantage of Sun East's many convenient services, but they can now conduct business at numerous branch locations.
