Taconnet Federal Credit Union

Taconnet Federal Credit Union's field of membership shall be limited to those having the following common bond:

Persons who live, work, worship, or attend school in and businesses and other legal entities located in Kennebec County, Maine or Somerset County, Maine; and, also included are spouses of persons who died while within the field of membership of this credit union, employees of this credit union, volunteers in the community, members of their immediate family or household, and organizations of such persons

Taconnet Federal Credit Union was chartered on November 12, 1953 and was originally started to serve the employees of Hollingsworth & Company. In February, 1962, the bylaws were changed from Hollingsworth & Company, a division of Scott Paper Company, to employees of the Northeast division of Scott Paper Company in Winslow, Maine.Employees of the Woodlands division of the Scott Paper company who work in Maine and are paid from Winslow, Maine.

November 1973, the charter was amended to include the Woodlands division of Scott Paper Company. This was to include in the field of membership, employees who worked in the woods. In September 1986, SD Warren, a division of Scott Paper Company opened in Skowhegan, Maine. Scott Paper Company sold the Winslow Paper Mill to Kimberly-Clark Corporation. In 1997 S.D. Warren Mill in Skowhegan was sold to Sappi Fine Paper. In 1997 the Kimberly-Clark Mill in Winslow closed.

In 1999 Good Will Hinckley Home for Boys and Girls, and the employees of George Walter Associates who work in Hinckley, Maine were added to our Charter. 2001 employees and students of Winslow Elementary who work or attend school in Winslow, Maine were added to our Charter. 2005 charter is amended to read: Persons who live, work, worship, or attend school in and businesses and other legal entities located in Kennebec County, Maine or Somerset County, Maine are welcomed into Taconnet's field of membership.
